Willie Nelson

November is the time of year we reflect on what we are thankful for, and I am so thankful that this November we went to see Willie Nelson sing at Billy Bobs. When the tickets came up for sale, we grabbed them plus a couple extra as a way to thank my parents for housing us in the interim of our Minnesota house being sold and our Texas home being built. It was also a good way to convince them to visit as they are huge fans. Thanks to them I was raised with blue eyes have crying in the rain since the red headed stranger first sang that tune. It was so incredible to hear a legend live it brought my mom to tears.

Texas BBQ

While living in Minnesota I was just this side of being a vegetarian. Not for any reason other than I could simply take or leave meat. Fast forward to living in Texas and I completely understand carnivorism. We have found quite a few great little BBQ places within a short drive of our home, but Hard Eight is the closest and it is what sold our son on the idea of moving to Texas.

Our first Texas Holiday

I was so excite for Halloween in our new home. We probably shouldn’t have bothered with the decorations as we are one of only a few houses on the block. By next year I expect that there should be a hundred little trick or treaters at our door!

Flip flops

Here it is late October and I am still wearing flip flops. The annuals are still blooming. I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again; I love Texas.

Homecoming Mums

Another Southern discovery!  Homecoming mums are aTexas tradition. My son was invited to homecoming at another high school by a friend and she gave him a mum to wear on his arm. She was wise enough to realize that he was a complete foreigner and kindly had one made for herself too.
