Rodeo

We visited the Fort Worth Stock Yards & Rodeo! Yes, it is touristy, but it is distinctively Texan. Believe it or not there are rodeo’s in Minnesota tucked in between the waterskiing and ice-fishing. But they just can’t compare to the energy and patriotism that is present at the Stockyards rodeo. When Texans stand for the flag, they mean it. It isn’t just something you do because it’s what is done, you can sense the pride and respect for the country and state. I love it here. These are my people.

What in the South?

I’m just not sure what to make of this little discovery. It is the first southern delicacy that we’ve run into. I’m guessing that the chicken paws are the southern answer to the northerner’s pickled herring.

Gas Shortage

Well, I guess this is maybe part of life in a coastal state. Our hotel was full of Hurricane Harvey refugees, many who didn’t know how their homes or businesses faired. Now we are paying obscene prices for fuel and stations are running out and closing.

Waiting & Waiting

It is great to be here and to be able to see the last phase of construction. The landscaping is in, fencing will be up soon, but I’m most excited to see the backsplash going up!
